HARMONY — Historic Harmony's Weihnacht Markt, a Christmas Market, will take place Nov. 15 and 16 all around Harmony's historic district.

Shopping, entertainment and foods, all reflecting the historic community's German heritage, will be featured. Self-guided museum tours are part of the event, with rooms decorated in early 19th century tradition.

Artisans from throughout the region, many demonstrating their crafts, offer goods as diverse as jewelry, tinware, iron goods, wooden items, folk and hand-carved Santas, folk art, paintings and drawings, dolls, pottery, Shaker wood boxes, cuckoo clocks, beeswax candles and ornaments, furniture, ornaments and greeting cards.

Traditional German foods will include soup, bratwurst and sauerbraten sandwiches, potato pancakes, German potato salad, home baked pie, the museum's signature Harmony Society ginger cookies, home made root beer and mulled cider.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 15 and noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 16. Admission, which includes entertainment and wagon rides, is $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, $3 for students and free for children younger than 6. A group rate is available by advance arrangement.
