<B>EVENT BENEFITS CHILDREN</B> — Dr. Brian Froehly, Dr. Stuart Surkosky, Chris Day and Margaret Clawson recently attended the Kids Day America/International event sponsored by Care Chiropractic Center at the farm show grounds in Butler. The event provided information on health, crime prevention, Internet and child safety, and environmental awareness. State police, McGruff the crime dog, Sparky the fire dog and the Tobacco Man were present. The fire department taught fire safety tips to children, and many children used the fire hose and climbed into the ladder truck. Proceeds from the event went to the YWCA’s children’s programs.

Catherine "Kitty" Coleman of Parker was recently honored with two citations during the Pennsulvania Rural Leadership Program's legislative study institute. The first citation was sponsored by Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll that commended Coleman for exemplifying leadership. The second citation was sponsored by Representative Art Hershey, 13th, commended Coleman for her participation in the Pennsylvania Rural Leadershiip Program.The program is a statewide, two-year leadership development course based at Penn State University.—-The

Comcast Foundation of the Comcast Cable Company awarded Lifesteps with a $930 grant due to Comcast Cares Day.The grant will be used to support the Lifesteps' Family Caring Fund.The Comcast Cares day involved nearly 1,400 employees, family and friends who volunteered at 32 sites completing landscaping, painting and maintenance projects.—-
