Fergus 65th anniversary
James "Jim" and Lucille "Lucy" Fergus of Slippery Rock celebrated 65 years of marriage with a family dinner Oct. 4 at the Garden Gate Restaurant in Prospect.
Fergus married the former Lucille Taggart on Oct. 2, 1943, at her grandparents' home in Slippery Rock.
They have five children, Virginia Sankey of Altoona, Gail Hilton of Butler, James Fergus II of Freeport, John Fergus of Glen Haven, Colo., and Becky Richter of Hagerstown, Md. A son, William Fergus, is deceased.
They also have 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Fergus is retired from farming, working for Kennemetal and working as a courier for First National Bank.
Mrs. Fergus is a homemaker.
The Ferguses are members of Highland Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock, where Mr. Fergus has served as an elder and trustee and Mrs. Fergus has served as an elder and deacon.
