Jackie Bice of Saxonburg was named president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Butler County. The county federation is comprised of seven clubs with more than 200 members and organizes communication and fellowship between the clubs. It also sponsors countywide events.Bice was raised in Pittsburgh and moved to Butler County with her husband, Charles. The Bices live on a farmette in Saxonburg. They have two grown children, Adrienne and Jim.Bice was introduced to civic activity through her children's social and school activities. She became a Girl Scout leader and served as an officer in the local Cub Scout and Boy Scout organizations.She also worked in PTO, football, baseball and basketball parents' clubs. She was then asked to join the Saxonburg Women's Club.She found the Women's Club to be a new and fulfilling experience and soon became involved in many committees. She served in various offices, including four years as the club's president.She also held offices at the county level before becoming the county president.She is actively involved in her church and serves on several committees there. She is a member of the Questers, an antique appreciation club.She serves as a docent for the Maridon Museum and serves on fundraising committees for the museum.Bice enjoys taking care of her grandson and canning vegetables from her garden.———The National Wheelchair Basketball Association announced
Jim Glatch, formerly of Connoquenessing Township, was selected as the head coach of the United States under 23 wheelchair basketball team.The team will represent the United States at next year's International Wheelchair Basketball Federation Junior World Championship in Paris.Glatch is entering his 14th season as the head coach of the Edinboro University wheelchair basketball team. He took over the team in 1995.Glatch graduated from Butler HighSchool in 1979.
