3 county teens are in TV talent contest final
PITTSBURGH — Three county teens are vying for the title of "Pittsburgh's Most Talented Teen" and a $500 prize as a part of the Greater Harmony Chorus' "A Day of Harmony."
Allyson Dietrich, Julia McGuire and Meggan McGuire are three of the five finalists chosen from more than 25 teens who auditioned this summer for a spot on the show.
They will compete in the shows at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Catherine Thomas Theatre, Benedictine Place, 4350 Perrysville Ave., Pittsburgh.
Dietrich is a senior at Seneca Valley High School and has appeared in numerous productions, including Seneca Valley's adaptation of "Pippin."
Julia McGuire, a freshman at Slippery Rock High School, has participated in community theater and sung with the Children's Festival Chorus at Duquesne University.
Meggan McGuire, a sophomore at Freeport High School, has appeared in six musicals, including the lead role of Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz." She also sang the national anthem at PNC Park and in Harrisburg for Gov. Ed Rendell.
The winner of the Harmony competition will be chosen by the audiences of the both the afternoon and evening shows, with the winner announced at the evening show.
The show also will feature the Greater Harmony Chorus, chapter quartets, first-place regional quartet champions, BLAK Velvet and emcee Ted Sohier of WQED.
According to its Web site, the Greater Harmony Chorus is a women's chorus that teaches vocal harmony and provides musical entertainment in the Pittsburgh area.
Tickets are available by phone at 412-613-9800 for $13 for adults and $5 for children 12 or younger, or at the door for $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 or younger.
