Butler graduate Tony Manfred carded a 79 to lead the Butler County Community College golf team to a second-place finish in the WPCC Tournament Tuesday at The Links at Spring Church in Apollo.

The Pioneers posted a team score of 331, 14 strokes behind champion Potomac State. Brendan Dempsey of Potomac State took medalist honors with a 76.

Doug Aller of BC3 finished with an 81 for fifth-place overall while Seneca Valley graduate Brad Posey shot an 82 to finish seventh.

Manfred, Aller and Posey will compete in the PCAA state championship tournament Monday and Tuesday at the Penn National Golf Club in Chambersburg. The Pioneers' Nick Liberatore, 18th with an 89, will join them.

BC3's final golfer in the WPCCevent was Butler graduate Trevor Maser, who carded a 97.

There were 44 golfers in the field overall. CCAC-North finished third with a 349, followed by Community College of Beaver Countywith a 355, Westmoreland with a 372 and CCAC South with a 381.

Sophomore forward Alison Hindley scored the game-winning goal with two minutes remaining to lift Slippery Rock University to a 2-1 win over Clarion Tuesday.Alyssa Barrett, who assisted the second goal, scored The Rock's first goal that tied the game in the second half.

Ken Fultz and Toby Bowser each scored a goal in SRU's 2-0 shutout of Wheeling Jesuit.
