SCOUTS HONOR - In October 1968 ground was broken near the intersection of Route 356 and Saxonburg Road for a new Council Service Center for the Pioneer Trails Council of the Boy Scouts. Among those taking part were council president E.J. Hazen. Other scout officials on hand included Thomas Coyle, Robert DeNoon, Joseph Bayly and Robert Buttermore. Scouts present included Carl Hilliard, Ted Leonard and Tom Beck. They represented the 6,000 scouts in the council. The new building would be 88 feet by 40 feet and cost $91,000.
