Participants line up Monday for soup and bread at Slippery Rock University's 13th annual Empty Bowls Dinner held to raise hunger awareness and support for local food programs. This year's event raised more than $3,400 to be shared by the Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard, the Butler Area Agency on Aging and New Castle's I Care House food programs. More than 400 people attended the event and were able to keep the ceramic bowls made by art students in which their food was served.
