Esther L. McLafferty
Esther L. McLafferty, 84, formerly of South Main Street, died Monday at Elmcroft of Saxonburg.
Born Jan. 1, 1924, in Sarver, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Savilla Woodside Smail.
Esther graduated from the Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse. She worked for 26 years on the night shift at the Butler Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the nurses alumni at Butler Hospital.
She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
Esther's husband, Regis J. McLafferty, who she married June 28, 1948, preceded her in death Nov. 23, 1997. A grandson, two brothers and two sisters also preceded her.
Surviving are her son and his wife, Terrance P. and Cynthia McLafferty of Baden; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cheryl and James Grey of Sarver, Patricia Moore of Mesa, Ariz., and Susan and Kenneth Furlong of Pickerington, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
<B>McLafferty </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Esther L. McLafferty, who died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the funeral home.
