William P. Shulik

Shulik

William P. Shulik, 91, of 100 New Haven Lane, formerly of Old Plank Road, died Monday at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born March 22, 1917, in Butler, he was a son of the late William and Mary Lastik Shulik.

Bill was a self-employed local contractor for more than 30 years. He fabricated, installed and serviced sheet metal, furnaces and stainless steel gutters and spouting. Following his retirement, he worked as the night watchman for the Butler Area Sewer Authority.

Mr. Shulik was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian and was also an usher at his church. He was a charter and life member of the South Butler Volunteer Fire Department and a fire policeman. He also was a member of the Slovak Club in Lyndora.

Bill's wife, Margaret Zavacky Shulik, who he married Oct. 8, 1939, survives him. Also surviving are three sons and their wives, William J. and Karen Shulik of South Fayette Township, the Rev. Father Bernard P. Shulik, chaplain at the Felician Order Convent in Coraopolis and David D. and Mary Shulik of Clark. Five grandchildren, a step-grandchild, four great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren also survive him.

His son, James R. Shulik, preceded him in death May 24, 2000. Three brothers, Bernie, Steve and Joe also preceded him.

<B>SHULIK</B> —<B> </B>Friends of William P. Shulik, who died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday from St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, Meridian. Entombment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.The bereavement committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home to conduct a parish vigil service.The family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler.Additional information can be found and condolence messages placed for the family at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
