Butler County Community College as part of the 2008-09 Performing Arts Series presents William Shakespeare's "As You Like It" performed by the Nation Players at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Succop Theater on campus. Set in France, "As You Like It" is a quintessential Shakespearean comedy and offers one of Shakespeare's most quoted lines, "All the world is a stage."

• John Makay, professor emeritus of communication studies at Bowling Green State University, will be this year's lecturer when SRU offers its fifth annual Ted Walwik Freedom of Speech Lecture at 8 p.m. tonight. The free lecture will be in SRU's Advanced Technology and Science Hall.• James Loewen, sociologist and award-winning author of "Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your High School History Textbook Got Wrong," will lecture at 3 p.m. Wednesday in SRU's Advanced Technology and Science Hall.• "An Evening with Sam Shepard," including scenes from the playwright's "Killer's Head," "Action" and "Chicago" opens SRU's theater department 2008-09 show season.
