Donald Ecker was mobilized and activated for deployment overseas to a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.Ecker, a special purpose operations supervisor with 26 years of military service, is normally assigned to the 398th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Rockville, Md.He is the son of Donald Ecker of Fenelton and Dolores J. Ecker of Cheswick.The sergeant is a 1979 graduate of Fox Chapel High School.———Air Force Airman

Kevin Hayes graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.Hayes is the son of Edward and Jacalyn Hayes of Portersville. The airman is a 2007 graduate of a high school program at Butler County Community College.
