Mekis

Sandra L. Kutsch Mekis, 70, of 110 Rays Road in Fenelton died Thursday at her home.

She was born June 7, 1938, in Butler, a daughter of Arthur and Emogene Swisher Hillman.

Mrs. Mekis had worked as a secretary for Thomas Marine Expediting in Butler for 15 years. She had worked as a legal secretary for Dick Goldinger and Pete Schaffer from 1988 to 1994.

She was a member of the St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville and was formerly a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

Mrs. Mekis had served as the marching director of the C.D. of A. Drum and Bugle Corps for seven years. She loved traveling and was very outgoing. She and her husband wintered in Venture Out Park in Mesa, Ariz. She was a member of the Alamos Western Square Dance Club.

She is survived by her husband, Ray H. Mekis, who she married Nov. 5, 1994; two daughters, Deborah Egelsky and her husband, Gary, of Vienna, Ohio, and Ms. Barbara Jo Dunn of Sarver; a brother, Gary Hillman and his wife, Karen, of Saxonburg; three grandchildren, Karfa J. Egelsky of Vienna, Ohio, and Sean and Delaney Dunn, both of Sarver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph D. Kutsch, who died Aug. 8, 1987.

<B>MEKIS — </B>Friends of Sandra L. Kutsch Mekis, who died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME,</B> 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville with the Rev. Kenneth Kezmarsky officiating. Burial will follow in the Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hillman Cancer Center-UPCI Research 5150 Centre Ave., Suite 1B, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
