Jackson rezoning paves way for office, shop

JACKSON TWP — The township supervisors Thursday evening approved the rezoning of property along Tomlinson Road, which now reverts back to its original commercial designation.

The property had been changed to residential zoning two years ago, but no development was ever built.

Bob Cornell, one of the principals of PAEBH, owners of the property, reiterated to the supervisors the change was requested because businessman Doug Sippel wants to build a commercial development there.

Sippel had requested the 62 acres be returned to its former mixed office, commerce zoning district.

He is president of the Sippel Development Co., a commercial site development firm in Sewickley, Allegheny County. It has more than 60 clients in Western and central Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and West Virginia.

Sippel told the supervisors Thursday night he plans to build an office and shop for his large earthmoving business at the site.

Beyond that construction, there are no other plans.

"Anything is possible, but I don't have anything set in stone," he said.

In July 2006, the property was rezoned from a mixed commerce district to residential, which would allow for houses.
