Helen M. Barkley, 80, of Harmony died Tuesday at the Abington Hospital, Abington, Montgomery County.

Born Sept. 27, 1927, in Harmony, she was the daughter of the late Ralph E. and Catherine (Seals) Lutz.

Mrs. Barkley attended the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church.

She was the secretary for Barkley & Ziegler Excavating, which later became Barkley Excavating.

Helen was a member of the former Harmony Community Club, and she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, baking bread, gardening, canning, knitting and being with family and friends.

She is survived by three sons, the Rev. Kenneth Barkley and his wife, Bea, of Willow Grove, Dale Barkley and his wife, Dina, of Harmony and Grant Barkley of Harmony; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierce Barkley, who died Jan. 26, 1979; and a son, Raymond Barkley who died Oct. 30, 1965.

<B>BARKLEY</B> — Friends of Helen M. Barkley, who died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
