Ruth C. Hancheck, 89, of Crisswell Road died Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 7, 1919, in Butler, a daughter of the late Lawrence A. and Lillian Hopkins Birckbichler.

Ruth started out as a waitress and also worked at the Spaide Shirt Factory. She had her own wall washing business and devil crab business. She also operated a tea route and worked as a head cook at a number of restaurants in the Butler area.

With her cooking experience, she operated and was a part owner, along with her son, of the LCR Restaurant in Butler. She was known statewide for designing and creating wedding cakes.

She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother and was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Mary M.) Eiler of Butler; two sons, Larry A. Vicario and his wife, Charlene, of Butler and Roy D. Burns of Boyers; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Goefert of Saxonburg; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Andrew A. Hancheck, preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 2006. Her first husband, Gasper Vicario, and her second husband, Charles E. Burns, also preceded her.

Her daughter-in-law, Susan Murdick Burns, and her son-in-law, Robert C. Murphy, along with six brothers, four sisters, and six infant brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

<B>HANCHECK </B>—<B> </B>Friends and family of Ruth C. Hancheck, who died Tuesday, July 29, 2008, will gather from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Father Harry Bielewicz, pastor of St. Paul R.C. Church, officiating. Inurnment will take place at Butler County Memorial Park. Cremation services provided by the Geibel Funeral Home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
