George Hoffman
George Hoffman, 97, formerly of Prospect, died Saturday at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.
Born Feb. 16, 1911, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of George and Elise Warner Hoffman.
He was a member of the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Hoffman had been an insurance salesman for Nationwide Insurance. He also had worked for Montgomery Ward and Chase National Bank of New York City.
He was a member of the adjunct faculty at Slippery Rock University in the gerontology department.
He had attended the Salvation Army College in New York, N.Y., the American Institute of Banking, and the Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
He was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Portersville.
Surviving are two sons, Stuart Hoffman of New Bethlehem and Robert Hoffman of Butler; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
His wife, Carolyn Klett Hoffman, who he married Sept. 18, 1940, died Nov. 16, 2001. He also was preceded in death by a son, a brother, a sister and a grandson.
<B>HOFFMAN</B> — There will be no public visitation. Graveside services for George Hoffman, who died Saturday, July 5, 2008, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut, with the Rev. Jeffrey Curtis officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony.Arrangements are by the <B>Jay Bryan Funeral Home</B>, Prospect.
