The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture provided this report on the July 22 Mercer livestock auction.

CATTLE 130 — (Slaughter steers sold .50-1. lower; slaughter cows sold weaker.)

Steers — Choice 1-3, 1150-1555 lbs., 89.50-94.; select 1-2, 920-1515 lbs., 84.50-90.

Holstein steers — High choice 2-3, one, 1475 lbs., 79.; choice 2-3, two, 1485 and 1590 lbs., 78.

Heifers — Choice, 1-3, few, 1035-1285 lbs., 89.-94.25; few, 915-950 lbs., 81.50-85.

Cows — Breakers, 75-80 percent lean, 59.50-63.50, one 66.50; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 54.-59.; lean, 85-90 percent lean, 50.-53.50. Shells 49.50 and down.

Bulls — Yield grade 1, few, 1280-1580 lbs., 69.-74.50; yield grade 2, few, 1020-1465 lbs., 62.50-68.

Feeder cattle — Steers — One, large 1, 945 lbs., 77. Heifers — Few, medium 2-3, 640-750 lbs., 60.-77.; Bulls — Few, medium 2-3, 380-520 lbs., 57.-68.

CALVES 34

Vealers — Few, standard and good, 70-100 lbs., 22.50-45.; utility, 50-70 lbs., 5.-17.50.

Farm calves — Few, No. 1, Holstein bulls, 90-120 lbs., 45.-55.; few, No. 2, 80-120 lbs., 35.-40. Two, No. 2, Holstein heifers, 80 and 100 lbs., 120. and 130. One, beef cross bulls and heifers, 115 lbs., 80.

HOGS 3 — Sows — two, 530 lbs., 30.50 and 31.; one, medium, 325 lbs., 19.

FEEDER PIGS 0 — No market test
