Virginia P. Layton, 86, formerly of Ross Township, went home to be with the Lord on Monday after a brief battle with lung cancer.

Ginnie never smoked. She was known as a warm and cheerful woman who was caring and compassionate. Her smile and enthusiasm for life will be missed.

She is survived by one daughter, Joy Bray, and her husband, Dr. John Bray, of Butler. She also is survived by her siblings, Kenneth and John Parsons, Jocelyn Peterson, Margaret Stumpf and Barbara Marshall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard R. Layton; her daughter, Barbara; and her brothers, Frank, Rollin, Earl and Stanley Parsons.
