Helen V. Grove

Helen V. Grove, 92, formerly of Tarentum, died 8 p.m. Monday at Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Allegheny Valley Hospital in Harrison Township.

Born May 24, 1916, in Natrona Heights, she was the daughter of Luther and Estella McConnell Hilty.

She lived in Jefferson Township with her daughter and son-in-law for the past eight years.

She retired from the former G.C. Murphy in Tarentum after 30 years.

She was a graduate of the former Tarentum High School.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, cards, crossword puzzles, house plants, gardening, boating with her family, knitting and church activities.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda L. Thompson and her husband, Robert, of Jefferson Township; four grandsons, Christopher Thompson, Erik Thompson and his wife, Amber, Mark Porter, and Matthew Friday and his wife, Amanda; three granddaughters, Nicole Azzarello and her husband, Michael, Lara Porter, and Shari Boschele and her husband, Chad; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Dayton Grove, who died in 1995; two daughters, Patty Porter, who died in 2000, and Nancy Friday, who died in 2000; two brothers, Victor and James Hilty; and three sisters, Lucille Montgomery, Dorothy Haube and Mildred Mahan.

<B>GROVE</B> — Friends of Helen V. Grove, who died Monday, June 9, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Duster Funeral Home, Inc.</B>, Tenth Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum.Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Presbyterian Church in Tarentum with her pastor, the Rev. Phillip A. Beck, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
