Delaney

Helen V. Sweeney Delaney, 83, of Franklin Street died early Tuesday morning at Sunnyview Home.

Born Nov. 18, 1924, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of Charles A. and Hilda Dunlay Sweeney.

In 1997, Helen retired from the Butler County Office of the Penn State Extension Service on the Sunnyview campus after more than 40 years.

She was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are a brother-in-law, Richard G. Wiest of Butler; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Sweeney of Pittsburgh; two nieces and a nephew, Nancy Black and Charles and Cathy Sweeney, all of Pittsburgh; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Her husband, Joseph A. Delaney, whom she married in September 1954, died Jan. 13, 1977. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Mary June Sweeney Wiest, who died Feb. 12, 1992; and a brother, Thomas D. Sweeney, who died in 1994.

Sweeney Delaney, who died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N.
