Richard E. Kearns, 78, of Butler died Wednesday at Elmcroft of Saxonburg.

Born in Butler, Nov. 16, 1929, he was the son of Harold R. and Clara E. Stamm Kearns.

He retired from Armco-Butler Works, where he worked for 35 years.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are a son, Michael R. Kearns of Butler; a daughter, Sandra A. Kearns of Butler; a brother, Arthur L. Kearns of Renfrew; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Nancy) Gaiser of Meridian; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Teruko Tsutsumi Kearns, who died Nov. 13, 2003.
