Donald R. Schantz
Donald R. "Bud" Schantz, 84, of Zelienople died Thursday.
Born May 22, 1924, in New Alexandria, Pa., he was the son of Donovan and Thelma Silvis Schantz.
Mr. Schantz was a World War II Army veteran who served as a staff sergeant in Company K with the 71st Infantry. He was awarded a Purple Heart, a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster and three Bronze Service Stars.
Mr. Schantz was a member of Harmony Lodge 429 F&AM and a former member of Zelienople American Legion Post 474 and Harmony Moose Lodge 957.
Mr. Schantz retired from Penn Power as a line coordinator.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna R. Kennedy of Albuquerque, N.M.; a son, Donald E. Schantz and his wife, Teresa, of Zelienople; two sisters, Rhoda Thompson of Cranberry Township and Jean Rape of Harmony; a granddaughter, Alexis Rice of Tucson, Ariz.; and two step-great-grandchildren, Dustin and Dakota Litz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Schantz; two sisters, Sally Smith and Betty Householder; and a step-grandson, Adam Richard Pisarchick.
