Rottman

Karl D. "Speedy" Rottman, 63, of Iron Furnace Road, East Brady died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday at his home after a long illness.

Born in Parker Township, Oct. 13, 1944, he was a son of the late Karl and Doris I. Robinson Rottman.

He was a member of the Nevin Memorial United Church of Christ, Olean Trail, Fairmount City.

Mr. Rottman had attended the Karns City High School and had owned and operated the Bradys Bend Mobile Home Park on Iron Furnace Road for the past 12 years. Earlier in his working career, he had been employed by the Pullman Standard Rail Car Division in Butler and also was a long-distance independent steel hauler. He was the Armstrong County Sewage Enforcement Agency administrator and officer for the past eight years.

Speedy loved life and was a lifelong farmer. He was involved in many community activities. He enjoyed helping others and had a unique ability to fix anything. His hobbies included a lifelong interest in explosives and blowing things up, hunting mule deer and elk in Colorado, boating and spending time with his family and friends on the Allegheny River near East Brady. He panned for gold and fly-fished while on vacation in Alaska.

He is survived by his wife, Genny Ann Wiant, who he first married Oct. 1, 2000, at the Boltz Farm near Kaylor and then again Sept. 1, 2007, at the Allegheny River near East Brady. Also surviving are his children, Patricia R. Willams and her husband, James L., of Orlando, Fla., Tammy L. Schuey of Worthington, Tracy A. Parker and her husband, Scott, of Karns City and Matthew D. Rottman and his wife, Nicole, of East Brady; stepchildren, Crystal L. Drayer of Fairmount City and Ryan J. Drayer at home; his stepmother, Shirley J. Shakley Rottman of Karns City; two sisters, Carol Ann Clark of Mercer and Nancy Lee Brice of Karns City; two brothers, Scott H. Rottman and his wife, Amy, and Daniel D. Rottman, both of Karns City; seven grandchildren, Tawnya L. Petrovic and her husband, Tony, of Greensburg, Travis J. Schuey of Worthington, Saxon L., Tylar D. and Elizabeth E. Parker, all of Karns City and Luke A. and Jordon L. Rottman, both of East Brady; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Amy Cleo Robinson; his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Sophie Rottman; a beloved son-in-law, James F. Schuey; and a grandson, James F. Schuey Jr.

<B>ROTTMAN</B> — Friends of Karl D. "Speedy" Rottman, who died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis funeral home</B>, Petrolia. Visitation also will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the Nevin Memorial United Church of Christ, Olean Trail, Fairmount City, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Samuel Swick officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Chicora.Friends and family are invited to attend a meal at the American Legion Kaylor Post 488 in Bradys Bend following the burial service.
