Curtis R. Double

Curtis R. Double, 73, of Parker, formerly of Chicora, died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday at the Parker Personal Care Home after a short illness.

Born in Chicora, July 4, 1934, he was the son of Anthony A. and Mae Hilliard Double.

He had worked 19 years at Pullman Standard until the plant closed. He then worked 15 years at the Chicora Moose until his retirement in 1996.

Mr. Double was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chicora. He also belonged to the Chicora Moose Lodge 962, where he held a fellowship degree; was a social member of Kaylor American Legion Post 488 of Bradys Bend; and a member of the S.O.I. of Bradys Bend and the Happy Hunters Sportsman Club of Fenelton.

Surviving are his wife, Joanne C. Claypoole Double, who he married Dec. 1, 1956; a daughter, Shelley Barnhart and her husband, Stephen, of Chicora; two sons, Robert Double and his wife, Tammy, and Patrick Double and his wife, Cheryl, all of Chicora; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandsons; a sister; Janet Cunningham and her husband, Wayne, of Saxonburg; two brothers, Donald Double and his wife, Catherine, of Chicora and Wayne Double and his wife, Judy, of Karns City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son and a granddaughter.

<B>DOUBLE </B>— Friends of Curtis R. Double, who died Sunday, May 25, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home the with Rev. Glea Foster, his church pastor, officiating. Cremation services provided by Steighner Funeral Home.The Chicora Moose Lodge will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
