Simon the penguin will be on parade Saturday as part of Pittsburgh Penguins Day at the National Aviary, honoring the hockey team's great season. Admission is reduced $2 that day for visitors wearing Pittsburgh Penguins gear. Discounts for other summer events are scheduled, too.

PITTSBURGH — The National Aviary offers some promotions this summer for all ages.

• Little Peepers at 10:30 a.m. Mondays through Aug. 25, offers stories, crafts and up-close live bird encounters, all for free for children younger than 6.

• Two-Fur-Tuesdays offers two-for-one admission Tuesdays through Aug. 26 in honor of Wookie, the aviary's two-toed sloth.

• Pittsburgh Penguins Day on Saturday features $2 off admission for those wearing Pittsburgh Penguins gear.

In honor of the team's great season, the aviary's own lineup — Stanley, Elvis, Patrick, Simon and Sidney — will greet guests during a penguin parade. Afterward, Sidney, named for player Sidney Crosby, will pose for photos while Iceburgh, the Pittsburgh Penguins mascot, will greet visitors.

• Senior Mondays year-round admit senior citizens age 60 and older for $4, half of the regular $8 senior admission price.

The aviary, at 700 Arch St., is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Regular admission is $9 for adults; $8 for seniors; $7.50 for children ages 2 to 12; and free for children younger than 2.
