Thompson 70th anniversary
Robert and Clara Thompson of Karns City celebrated 70 years of marriage recently with a family dinner.
Thompson married the former Clara Jameson on June 1, 1938, in Gettysburg.
They have two sons, Robert Thompson Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., and Larry Thompson of Delmont.
They also have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Thompson is retired from the Witco Refinery in Petrolia, where he was a chemical worker for 45 years.
His wife, also retired, worked for 30 years as an elementary school teacher and for seven years as a caseworker for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Assistance. She belongs to the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
The Thompsons have enjoyed 55 consecutive years of three-week summer fishing vacations in Ontario, Canada. They belong to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora.
