Valerie Mitchell of Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven I, Jefferson Township, recently celebrated her 90th birthday with a family party.

The former Valerie Masarik was born May 29, 1918, in Harrison Township. She married William Mitchell on Nov. 28, 1940, at St. Matthias Church in Natrona Heights. He is deceased.

She has four children, William Mitchell of Lower Burrell, Carole Fries of Chambersburg, Marcia Hill of Tucson, Ariz., and Keith Mitchell of Cranberry Township. She also has nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mitchell was self-employed for most of her life until retiring in 1972. She enjoys sewing, crafts, reading, crosswords, bingo and talk shows.

She is a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Natrona Heights.
