WAUSEON, Ohio — Butler resident Dave Cook improved to 3-0 as a professional middleweight boxer with a four-round unanimous decision over Don Shrock (2-10-1) of Middletown, Ohio, Saturday night.
With 1:12 left in the second round, the fight was delayed by a tornado warning.
"They cleared the ring and made everybody wait around for 15 minutes,"said Cook's trainer, Don Spinetti. "Then nothing happened."
The bout resumed and Cook went on to victory. He is scheduled to fight Jimmy Lubash (6-1) on the July 2 fight card at Pullman Park.
CONNEAUT LAKE— Center Township resident Marissa DeCola, 14, won her age division at a Keystone Premiere Golf Association event at Oakland Beach Golf Club Monday.DeCola shot a 78 in the victory.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Butler native Matt Clement struggled in a rehab start Sunday for the Class AASpringfield Cardinals.Clement received a no-decision in Springfield's 9-7 win over Arkansas, allowing six runs — three earned — on seven hits over five innings. He threw 75 pitches, struck out two, walked three and hit a batter.He had allowed one hit and struck out five in six innings for Class A Palm Beach last week.
