Delaney

Rebecca Ann Delaney, 60, of Shippenville died late Wednesday evening at Clarion Hospital.

Born April 5, 1948, in Paint Township, Clarion County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Martin A. and Marcella Grace Burke Wagner.

Mrs. Delaney was a graduate of Redbank High School, the DuBois Business College and Clarion State College. She taught for 36 years at the North Clarion Elementary School beginning in 1971.

She was a member of the Tylersburg United Methodist Church. She played piano and organ at the Tylersburg United Methodist Church and at the Shannondale Zion Lutheran Church, and taught piano and organ to many children.

On her 60th birthday, she received more than 145 cards from all over the world. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife and her children's best friend.

Mrs. Delaney was married by her father to Bernard Lloyd "Ben" Delaney Aug. 6, 1971, which was her in-laws' 24th anniversary. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, MarcyLou Ann Delaney of Limestone; a son, Jonathan Todd "Jonny" Delaney at home; a sister, Norma Bailey and her husband, Roger, of Mayport; her mother-in-law, Ruth L. Delaney of Leeper; a brother-in-law, Ronald L. Delaney and his wife, Anne, of Leeper; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Stephen (Brenda) Hoover of Lucinda and Mrs. Michael (Lori) Sarver of Blairsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Marty Lloyd Delaney, who died June 25, 1987, at 5 weeks old; and Joseph James Delaney, who died May 27, 1988, at birth.

<B>DELANEY</B> — Friends of Rebecca Ann Delaney, who died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Borland Funeral Home</B>, Leeper. Visitation also will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. J. Mark Hurst of the Tylersburg United Methodist Church, the Rev. Robert Myers of the Gospel Center in Reynoldsville and the Rev. James Steingass of Shannondale Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Shippenville.Memorials may be made to the Clarion Hospital Cancer Center.
