Keck

Reynold A. Keck, 93, of 701 N. Monroe St. died at 3 p.m. Monday at his home.

Born in Butler, March 30, 1915, he was the son of F.J. and Alma Shearer Keck.

He was a 1934 graduate of Butler High School and a 1941 alumnus of the University of Cincinnati, where he belonged to the Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity.

He retired in 1980 as a metallurgist and supervisor at Armco-Butler Works after 45 years. He was a past president of the Armco Credit Union.

Mr. Keck was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he twice served on the church council and was an usher for several years.

He was a past officer of the Century Club; member, Esquire Club, where he held several offices; member, Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Department; life member, Butler Elks Lodge 170; life member and the 1955 master, Butler Lodge F&AM 272; life member, Butler Royal Arch Chapter 273; member, Lorraine Commandery 87 Knights Templar; member, A.A.S.R., Valley of New Castle; life member, Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, Caravan 14 of Butler, Butler Shrine Luncheon Club and Acacia Club; and past board member, Armco Golf Club. He also was a member of the Butler City Zoning and Hearing Board since the 1970s and had served as chairman.

He received a plaque in 1993 from Mayor Marion Taylor for his years of service; and on Jan. 15, 1996, he received the True Citizen Award from Mayor Richard Schontz.

He also belonged to the AAA and the AARP, was a director of the Butler Area Sports Hall of Fame and was a volunteer at the Butler Area Public Library and at the bingo at the Armco Vets Club.

Surviving are his wife, Martha T. Keck; a son, John R. Keck (Debbie) of Butler; a granddaughter, Emily Keck; two nephews, Richard Fair of Butler and Tom Young of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, a niece and two sisters-in-law.

North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman, his church pastor, officiating.
