I do agree, however, our children are in school 6 hours everyday. That would be my concern. Teachers are not really the bad guys. It is the administration. We have the No Child Left Behind Law, and it clearly holds these teachers accountable for a child's performance. That is where the war between home and school began. Of course teachers would want more money. Our society presents these teachers with kids that have all sorts of disabilities and these teachers have to deal with it. I am a parent and I see both sides. I have seen a teachers aide, struggling to physically help an autistic child on a daily basis. That truly is WORK. I have seen children with severe learning issues getting frustrated at these teachers and causing frustrations. There is alot of animosity between home and school with many of our kids. It is no ones fault, however I believe administration in these schools could maintain a better balance and not allow the conflict between home and school. The laws are the laws, but we should not take them out on each other. These laws were not in effect when many teacher became certified. Now they have to be doctors, nurses, counselors and physical slaves to these kids. No I am not a teacher, but I am parent of a disabled child who happens to be extremely difficult to educate. I did not have a problem with teachers, I had one with administration. These higher ups in charge need to intervene on bad situations in a positive reasonable fashion. I have found that administration condones getting PERSONALLY involved with personal lives as opposed to finding a civilized solution. It is not the teachers fault. During my horrible ordeal, I have seen my child with the best of the best with teachers. It is definitely administration that needs to get with it. Also, schools are not alotted enough money for all the issues our children have. And of course there are the children that need medication for mental health issues and some parents don't believe in medication. I truly feel sorry for teachers. I do want to also say, that Center Township Elementary is the best school in the county. Hats off to the principal. Fine job well done. He is excellent with my special needs child and the family.
