Helen Margaret Currie Rettig, 88, of Butler died at 3:10 p.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born May 3, 1919, in Butler County, she was the daughter of Augustas and Mary Speicher Ritzert.

She was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.

Mrs. Rettig retired from Agway and enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles and gardening.

She was one of the oldest residents at The Orchard.

Surviving are a son and his wife, Donald Wayne and Carol Currie of Fenelton; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Neil (Diane) Mason of Carmi, Ill.; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; a stepdaughter-in-law, Phyllis Rettig of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Currie, who died Aug. 30, 1970; her second husband, Harry L. Rettig, who died Jan. 13, 1989; a stepson; a great-grandchild; a brother; and two sisters.

<B>RETTIG</B> — Friends of Helen Margaret Currie Rettig, who died Monday, April 14, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., with the Rev. Pierre Falkenhan officiating.
