Joseph J. Kiefer
Joseph J. Kiefer, 54, of Chicora died at 6:18 p.m. Friday at his home after a heart seizure.
Born Nov. 30, 1953, in McKeesport, he was the son of Anna Marie Kemple Kiefer of Chicora and the late Leo E. Kiefer Sr.
He worked at the Butler Auto Auction for several years, where he picked up and delivered drivers to move automobiles to various places on the lot.
Mr. Kiefer was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora. He also was a member of the Chicora and the Kittanning Moose lodges and Moose International and was secretary for the Moose Legion 1 of Pennsylvania. He was the past president of the District of the Moose and was an associate member of the Railroader Heritage Corp. of Altoona, near the Horseshoe Curve.
In addition to his mother with whom he made his home, he is survived a brother, Leo E. Kiefer Jr. of Annandale; a sister, Leanora Ann Kiefer of Austin, Texas, where she works for the Overwatch Corp.; and a cousin, Kara Marie Kemple of Butler, whom he helped raise.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
<B>KIEFER</B> — Friends of Joseph J. Kiefer, who died Friday, April 11, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. David DeWitt as celebrant. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery, North Oakland.The Chicora Moose Lodge will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chicora Ambulance Association, Drawer F, Chicora, PA 16025.
