The Slippery Rock University softball team dropped a 5-4, nine-inning contest to Bloomsburg Wednesday in the first round of the Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional playoffs at Kutztown University.

SRU, making its first postseason appearance since 1984, will play an elimination game Thursday morning against Shippensburg (27-26).

The Rock (27-16) led 1-0 on a Jessica Ellebruch sacrifice fly and took a 4-2 lead by plating three runs in the top of the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run home run by Stacey Rhoades.

Bloomsburg, ranked No. 8 in Division II, scored one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game.
