Joseph Anthony "Joey" Campbell, 48, of White Cliff Nursing Home in Hempfield Township, Mercer County, formerly of Portersville, died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday at White Cliff following a courageous battle with an extended illness.

Born in Greenville, Oct. 25, 1959, he was the son of Carol Ann Stantas and the late John R. Campbell.

He attended the St. Michael School in Greenville and attained a bachelor's degree in biology in 1987 and a bachelor's degree in business administration in accounting in 2006, both from Slippery Rock University. He also was a 1996 graduate of the Lawrence County Truck Training Center.

Mr. Campbell was a member of Portersville Presbyterian Church, the YMCA and the Student Accounting Society at SRU.

He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and woodworking.

He was a senior research associate as a biomedical engineer at the Pittsburgh Cancer Institute from 1988 to 1995. He then was the proprietor of Campbell's Small Engine Repair and Services, which he operated from his home in Portersville from 1995 to 2001.

In addition to his mother of Greenville, he is survived by his former wife, Stasha Campbell of Portersville; a son, Jacob Michael Campbell and a daughter, Joei Roxanne Campbell, both of Portersville; sisters, Terri Sarcinella and her husband, Bruce, of Greenville, Jacki Miklosovic of Canonsburg and Lisa Ratzel of Milwaukee, Wis.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

<B>CAMPBELL </B>— A memorial service for Joseph Anthony "Joey" Campbell, who died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Portersville Presbyterian Church, 1256 Perry Highway, Portersville, with the Rev. Dana Opp officiating.
