Carl R. Schwing, 72, of Howe Township, Forest County, and owner of Tall Oaks, died March 23 at the Warren General Hospital in Warren, Pa.

Born Dec. 23, 1935, in Cincinnati, he was the son of Louis Abraham and Ruth Engelke Schwing.

He was part owner of Tall Oaks since it's inception in 1981. Carl's personable, engaging personality, full of life color and an exceptional sense of humor has been responsible for making the Tall Oaks shops a remarkable success.

He will be especially remembered, however, for his spirituality and gallant struggle with a very debilitating illness for years as he carried on a Christian ministry that has touched the lives and hearts of multitudes. His lofty, beautiful and reverent words will continue going forth in a book compiling these writings.

Carl's loss will be felt deeply by many but especially by his dear friend and caregiver of many years, Tom Beletic, with whom he lived and was a partner with at Tall Oaks. Also surviving are a sister, Lillian Wendling of Cincinnati; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford Schwing, Leo Wendling and Louis Schwing; and a sister, Ruth Schwing.
