Dorothy R. Moon, 91, of Butler went to be with her Lord at 4:46 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born March 30, 1917, in Coaltown, she was the daughter of David John and Dora Keffer Swope.

She retired from the Castle Rubber Co. in 1979.

Mrs. Moon belonged to the West Sunbury United Church of the Nazarene for years. She taught the adult Sunday school classes for 40 years, served as the missionary society president and was a church board member. She was the recipient of the Distinguished Christian Service Award of the Church of the Nazarene.

She was a member of the Butler County Family YMCA Service Club for several years. She taught cake baking and decorating at Slippery Rock University. She also enjoyed reading and doing crosswords and cryptoquotes.

Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. James F. (Evelyn) Brown of Tipp City, Ohio, Mrs. Jose S. (Esther) Galura of Butler, Mrs. Vance G. (Emily) Wonderly of Berghill, Ohio, Gladys M. Caldwell and Karen L. Moon, both of Butler, and Rosemary L. Addison of Volant; two sons, William R. Moon of Clearwater, Kan., and David G. Moon of Langhorne; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a great- great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Paul Swope of Grove City and John David Swope of Hartsville, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Moon, who died May 21, 1992; four sisters, and three brothers.

<B>MOON</B> — Friends of Dorothy R. Moon, who died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the West Sunbury United Church of the Nazarene, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Todd L. Strong officiating. Burial will be at the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made the West Sunbury United Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 544 Halston Road, West Sunbury, PA 16061.
