"To Remember" by Maria Kovalenko Leysens of Adams Township won an honorable mention award at Waterworks 2008, the annual Pittsburgh Watercolor Society juried exhibit opening Friday.

PITTSBURGH — Waterworks 2008, the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society annual member show, will open Friday at the 3rd Street Gallery, 220 Third St. in the Carnegie section of Pittsburgh.

The show is coordinated by Maria Kovalenko Leysens of Adams Township, who also has the painting "To Remember" in the show. Her watercolor won an honorable mention.

The show was juried by Mark Klingler, scientific illustrator at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. His work has appeared in international publications, museum exhibits, textbooks and Web sites.

Each member of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society was invited to submit one entry for inclusion in the show.

The exhibit will open with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Awards will be presented at 7:30 p.m. The show will then continue through May 31. Call 412-276-5233 or visit the Web site, www.3rdstreetgallery.net.
