Most Wecht jurors favored acquittal
PITTSBURGH — Five jurors in the federal trial of a celebrity pathologist said most of them wanted to acquit former Allegheny County Coroner Cyril Wecht.
A judge declared a mistrial April 8 after the 11-member jury deadlocked. A new trial is set to begin May 27.
Wecht said the second trial will go ahead no matter what the initial jury thought. He said he is nearly bankrupt from defending himself against the 41-count indictment.
