Mershimer 60th Anniversary
Donald and Harriet Mershimer of Slippery Rock, winter residents of Venice, Fla., celebrated their 60 years of marriage with a family dinner on April 17.
The former Harriet Brinton married Mershimer on April 17, 1948, at United Brothers Church in Winchester, Va.
They have a daughter, Karen Bellinger of Indianapolis. They also have two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mershimer is retired from the Local 922, Carpenters and Joiners of America. He also started D.L. Mershimer Construction. He is a an active member of several community organizations including the Mahoning Lodge No. 243, the New Castle Consistory and the Pittsburgh Shrine.
Mrs. Mershimer, a retired teacher for Slippery Rock School District, has been active in many organizations including the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the New Castle Rainbow Assembly and the Shenango #333 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Grove City Rainbow advisory board member and Mother adviser. She belonged to the Daughters of Early American Colonists, Daughters of The American Revolution in Grove City and the Brinton Association.
