Wayne LeRoy Carnahan, 61, of Butler died Monday morning at his home after a short illness.

Born June 23, 1946, in Rimersburg, he was the son of Alice E. Falconer Carnahan and the late Albert W. Carnahan.

He retired as a licensed practical nurse at Sunnyview Home and previously worked at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Mr. Carnahan belonged to the Critchlow-Hays American Legion Post 0417 of Prospect, Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing, camping and wood crafts.

He was a veteran of the Coast Guard, where he served his country from 1964 to 1967.

He is survived by his wife, Patty Lindemuth Carnahan, whom he married Nov. 27, 1968; his mother of Summerville; five children, Dwayne Holmes of Connecticut, SSG Daniel Carnahan of Kentucky, Sandra Myers of Butler, Rebekah Metcalfe of Ellwood City and Anthony Carnahan of Slippery Rock; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Cynthia Becker of Summerville.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Alice Faye Carnahan.

<B>CARNAHAN</B> — Friends of Wayne LeRoy Carnahan, who died Monday, March 24, 2008, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home</B>, 387 Main St., Prospect, where funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. The Rev. Dana Opp, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Portersville, will officiate.
