SV seniors work to battle autism
Two Seneca Valley High School seniors are spearheading a bowling fundraiser for children with autism.
Andrew Fornadel and Ryan Slack, both 18, decided to conduct the event as part of their senior projects for school.
The fundraiser, which benefits the Autism Society of Butler County, will be from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Freeway Lanes on Route 19 in Zelienople.
Both seniors became involved upon the suggestion of business teacher Mary Wildman, whose husband Davy Wildman founded the autism society.
After researching the disorder, both students realized the importance of the Wildmans' cause.
"It's such a growing issue," Ryan said of the neurological disorder that has no cure.
Fornadel said they hope to raise awareness about autism.
Suggested donations to participate in the fundraiser are $25 per individual, $65 per family and $75 per team of five people.
But the two teens aren't the only Seneca Valley seniors conducting autism projects.
