Harry C. Olson, 84, of Pittsburgh, formerly of West Alexander and Mount Lebanon, died Thursday.

Born Feb. 22, 1924, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Oscar and Elizabeth Miller Olson.

He graduated from West View High School in 1942 and went to Texas A&M for two years before enlisting in the Army. He served in the "Fighting 69th" Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement during World War II.

Mr. Olson started his own business, Olson Furnaces Inc., designing and manufacturing industrial furnaces.

He was a Quaker and was a member of the Friends Meeting House in Oakland.

He was the husband of Sallie Howe Olson; father of John (Moira Byrne) Olson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kurt (Jan Orlando) Olson of Westfield, N.Y., Corinne Olson of Washington, Pa., and Joseph Olson of Miami, Fla.; and grandfather of Eric and Brian Olson.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Olson, and a sister, Anna Jane Baird.

<B>Olson</B> — Friends of Harry C. Olson, who died Thursday, March 20, 2008, are welcome from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at 2630 W. Liberty Ave., Dormont.
