Joseph Roy Croyle
Joseph Roy Croyle, 84, of Niles, Ohio, died at 11:10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren, Ohio, following a short illness.
Born Feb. 19, 1924, in Reesedale, Armstrong County, he was the son of Charles Roy and Susan Roudebush Croyle.
He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Sylacauga, Ala.
He attended school in Bruin, Rattigan and Fairview Township, Karns City.
He was a member of the Airforce, serving from 1944 until 1946.
He retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio, in 1981 after 14 years.
Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Edward Leon Croyle and his wife, Bettie, of Sylacauga, Ala., and Donald E. Croyle of Cleveland, Ohio; one daughter, Joey E. Croyle Freeman and her husband, James, of Warren, Ohio; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jay Croyle and his wife, Isabel, of Karns City; one sister, Wanda J. Croyle Crispen of Sligo, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He married the former Loretta M. Corbett on Nov. 15, 1943, in Nectarine, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 8, 2000.
Preceding him in death were two sons, Jack L. Croyle, who died in August 2005 and Joseph Roy (Dickie) Croyle, who died in 1950, and three brothers, John Croyle, the Rev. George Croyle and Randall Croyle.
<B>CROYLE</B> — Friends of Joseph Roy Croyle, who died Thursday, March 20, 2008, were received from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Church of God of Prophecy in Karns City.Officiating was the Rev. Jay Croyle, State Overseer of the State of Pennsylvania for The Church of God of Prophecy; the Rev. Scott Kifer, Church of God of Prophecy, and the Rev. Barbara Hays, pastor of the Liberty Church of God of Prophecy, Liberty Township, Ohio.Family and friends are invited to the Oak Grove Cemetery, Route 268, Chicora at 9 a.m. today for a graveside committal service. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.Arrangements are being handled by the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home</B>, Petrolia.
