King leads Butler to 13-3 baseball win

Eric King tripled, doubled, scored two runs and knocked in two as the Butler baseball team rolled to a 13-3 win over Franklin at Highfield Park Saturday afternoon.

Tim Geibel picked up the win in relief. He also doubled, singled and drove in a run at the plate for the Golden Tornado (8-3).

Greg Hays also plated two runs with a single.

In other action:

• Seneca Valley kept on rolling, winning its seventh straight game, with a 17-7 bludgeoning of Mt. Lebanon.

The Raiders (10-1) will host North Allegheny today.

• Dale Gallo singled, double and tripled as Knoch outslugged Moniteau 20-10.

Grove City senior Kristy Woods set a meet record in the shot put with a toss of 41 feet, 6 inches at the City of Hermatige Invitational Saturday afternoon.Woods' toss was an inch better than the record set last season by Natalie Clickett of Union City.Woods, who won the state title in the shot last season, also won the discus Saturday.It was also a big day for Grove City's Hanna Casalnova.The sophomore won the 400- and 800-meter runs.As a team, Grove City finished fifth in the 24-team event.Slippery Rock also had a strong showing, placing seventh.Angela Shaffer claimed the 100-meter hurdles.
