Saturday — Three purses owned by Butler County women were stolen from vehicles parked on Yellow Dog Road in West Franklin Township. The thefts occurred between 3 a.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday. Two of the purses were found Monday along the same road and returned to their owners.
11:56 a.m. Monday — James D. Morin, 30, of Butler was arrested on a warrant following a traffic stop during which an officer also allegedly found him with suspected marijuana.Police said Morin is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving without a license and with an expired registration.
Monday — Police filed theft by deception charges against Joseph Carl Boyce, 44, of Butler for allegedly accepting money for a home remodeling project but not doing any work at the Jane Drive house in Center Township.Police said homeowner Linda Kay Black in May 2007 paid Boyce $1,225 to frame and complete a deck at the rear of the house; however, the project was never started. Boyce told police that he forgot about Black.
