In Justi McGrady's response to my letter to the editor I find a lot that I believe to be inaccurate, but I do find one point of agreement. McGrady writes, "for one to say something against a Muslim would be politically incorrect." I believe that McGrady's observation is true and is a sign of a general deterioration in the respect for freedom of speech and the result of multiculturalism run amok. Islam, like all religions, is an irrational creed that denigrates reason and logic and elevates faith. This special protection afforded to Islam was initiated by President Bush immediately following 9-11 when he claimed that a great religion had been hijacked and was further evidenced in the cowardly response to the Danish cartoons depicting the Islamic prophet Mohammed. Christianity and Judaism, tempered by the Enlightenment, are equally reprehensible but fortunately lack the large numbers of committed zealots to enforce their creeds on all. The Religious Right's involvement in politics should be viewed as an attempt to reverse this "inequity" and enshrine a Christian version of Sharia law in the United States.
