Pauline E. Johnston

Pauline E. Johnston, 86, of Valencia, formerly of Butler, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at UPMC Passavant.

Born March 16, 1921, in Boggsville, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Harvey D. Bartoe and Grace Gaiser Bartoe.

A member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Johnston worked at Easter Seals for a number of years, and she later worked at Butler High School. She also was a secretary for Western Auto and for International Staple and Machine. She was a talented painter and artist who enjoyed theater and music. She volunteered throughout the Butler community.

Surviving are two sons, P. Dewayne Johnston and his wife, June, and Jerry D. Johnston and his wife, Denise, both of Butler; a grandchild, Amelia Johnston of Butler; a sister, Mrs. James (Grace) Vandyke of Sarver; and a brother, William Bartoe and his wife, Imogene, of Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Johnston, who died Oct. 27, 1981, and a sister.

<B>JOHNSTON — </B>Friends of Pauline E. Johnston, who died Thursday, March 6, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at <B>YOUNG FUNERAL HOME</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday.Interment will be in the Eau Claire Cemetery.Information is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
