Caroline Mary Gerard Jessup of Germantown, Md., died Feb. 29 at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, Md., after a battle with lung cancer.

Born in 1936 in Butler, she was a daughter of Willis and Margaret Gerard of Winters Road in Penn Township.

She attended Penn Township elementary and high schools. After high school, she joined Eastern Airlines and was a flight attendant and supervisor.

At Eastern Airlines, she met her husband, Bob. She moved to Gaithersburg, Md., with her family in 1974. She worked for the Montgomery County Public Schools at Gaithersburg Intermediate and Montgomery Village Junior High. She was a Cub Scout den mother and softball coach for her children.

In 1998, she moved to Germantown and volunteered for the Dwelling Place, the Harp and Shamrock club and for several political campaigns. She was a member of the Silverliners, the retired Eastern Air Lines Flight Attendants Association.

She was a lifelong Steelers fan and loved Butler.

Surviving are three children, Bill, Rick and Dana, and five grandchildren, Alyssa, Haley, Aidan, Craig and Ricky. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Jessup.

<B>JESSUP</B> — A memorial Mass for Caroline Mary Gerard Jessup, who died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, was today at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Gaithersburg. Inurnment will be at 11 a.m. April 8 at the Arlington National Cemetery.
